Scoring Competitions
Since graduation I have participated in two scoring competitions. Both of the competitions I entered were for companies who create virtual instruments, essential tools for composers who produce their own music. One for Orchestral Tools and the Other for Sonokinetic.
The first competition I entered was for Orchestral Tools, who focus mainly on orchestral sample libraries. The Berlin Series being their flagship library. As part of the competition I was required to score the piece exclusively using their Berlin Free Orchestra.
The short video entitled 'The Composer’s Journey’ depicts a young girl cycling through the streets of Berlin on her bike as she struggles with her creativity. I wanted to capture the sense of hope and wonder by reflecting it with an upbeat orchestral melody.
The second competition I entered was for Sonokinetic, with a scene depicting a litlle red riding hood character strolling through the woods when a menacing figure begins to chase her. They focus phrase builder libraries and have unique user interfaces.
Also, I came 2nd place in the competition and was mentioned in their article which can be found here.
